Our news page gets behind the daily headlines of NET ZERO to focus on the everyday activities that combine to generate 'circularity' from the take-make-waste linear economy to the truly circular economy.
Sustainable Consumer Trends
Throughout 2025 we have constantly monitored the shifts in sustainable consumer behaviours.
Our platform is a real time reflection of consumer tastes.
Here in mid-September 2025 an article by Deloitte will remain relevant as we look ahead to 2026. Hit the button below for a detailed look at what is happening in 2025 and beyond.
Our social media programme focuses on the "Say - Do" gap that experts agree clearly exists. The five most valued sustainable trends that the article debates have their threads throughout our own strategy for 2025/2026. We strongly recommend businesses take a few minutes to read the article.
Measuring Sustainable Trends
What do we look for when measuring sustainable consumer behaviours? 2025 is proving a tumultuous year. We are all having to adjust to how AI is entering our own world and how geopolitical upheaval is changing supply chains.
In the accordion below we identify five consumer trends that are testing how industry is responding to societal challenges, the most urgent of which is why should we buy sustainable goods and services? We may want to but where is the proof?
What are Sustainable Products
The very best answer is any product that claims to be sustainable has been awarded certification by an independent body internationally recognised as an authority.
One of the most prominent in the UK is the Soil Association that provides certification for:
Food and drink
Forestry
Farming
Beauty and wellbeing
Fashion and textiles

Human Rights are Falling Behind
Human Rights are a core foundation of Social Development Goals, but progress is not uniform across the world. In the UK The British Standard Institute can help organisations develop an SDG Policy.
Both consumers and business managers should read this BSI Insight to understand more about this important subject
Reducing our Carbon Footprint
Businesses across the UK and throughout the EU have a legal responsibility to contribute to the national target for net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Consumers are very keen to help reduce carbon foot print at home. To reduce your carbon footprint, adopt a plant-based diet, reduce your travel by walking, cycling, or using public transport, choose energy-efficient appliances and renewable energy, minimize waste through recycling and reusing, and buy sustainable, locally-sourced products to lower emissions from food and fashion.
Technology at work in Sustainability
Perhaps an organisation will arrange that AI capture and summarise the profusion of technological advances that happen everyday across the world, creating a clearer picture of our sustainable progress in the race to Net Zero.
From pipe dream to reality! How OS has created a data powerhouse.
Today - and the future
OS is no longer a centuries-old mapping company today it is a supersize data powerhouse. Their location data, or geographic information has woven itself into the very fabric of everyday life, right across Great Britain often far beyond our shores.
Donna Lyndsay, Sustainability Lead at Ordnance Survey, analyses how location and earth observation data can be combined to better understand how our planet is changing, and develop potential solutions.
"There is a large and growing relationship between location and earth observation data. Both are relied on to collect and disseminate environmental information."
"But when combined, we get a powerful picture of the changes happening in our environment. From tracking heat waves to coastal erosion, and reporting pollution to habitat restoration, we’re able to analyse the Earth's surface in a way that helps us improve the effectiveness of environmental programs."

Today I ask the question "How will technology step up to accelerate the circular economy?"
We need a legislative framework around which innovators will chart a path to the circular economy.
